Review of The Manxman (1929) by Nate A — 19 Mar 2008
There is something to be said for silent acting. The exaggerated, delicate movements and extreme facial expressions can be great at conveying emotion in a stylised way.
This film starts off strongly with a conflict between two friends who both are in love with the same woman. While it is a horrid cliche in terms of its story development, the acting and directing is good enough for the majority of the film. Unfortunately, the slight material starts to show its seams near the end.
