Review of The Manson Family (1997) by Helen E — 12 Apr 2009
I've read Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi so I know a bit about the Manson Family murders but you don't realise just how horrific is was until you see it being acted out on screen. Ok, so the acting was pretty terrible but I think it was quite realistic and it was true to what happened.
It was pretty much one big acid trip though, very psychedelic, lots of naked people and sex but I guess that was the sixties. I wsn't sure about the new age worshippers they kept flash-forwarding to though.
It was very much focused on the other members of the family and their view of Charlie and not so much about Charlie himself which was a bit disappointing but other than that it was a pretty good insightful film and anyone interested in the Manson Family cult and the murders should definitely see it.
