Review of The Manchurian Candidate (2004) by Cheyne L — 24 May 2013
Creepy, affecting, and timely, this is a well done example of how science fiction in filmmaking is slowly becoming science fact in reality. it's a mash-up of social and political satire, as well as suspense and comedy, and it's all done very well.
the paranoia is especially palpable, often, the great cast staring straight into the camera, one of my favorite film techniques, very Kubrick, 'the gaze' I believe we like to call that.
