Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by Aidan H — 30 Aug 2010
Unlike its awkward remake, TMC casts an almost palpable feeling of terror (bolstered by sterling performances from both Harvey and Sinatra). Frankenheimer has proved himslef to be the master helmsman when it comes to balls-out action but here he is almost restrained despite the controversial conspiracies involved his portrayal of the dream sequences is flawless.
Cold, gripping and a classic of Cold War drama.
