Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by Corey N — 31 Aug 2010

This is the original "The Manchurian Candidate" starring Frank Sinatra and Laurence Harvey. I watched the remake with Denzel Washington before I ever seen this original. I knew the basic plot going in.

But this movie dealt more with Communists and the Korean War. This is a solid movie overall. The story is solid and so is the cast. Each actor does a good job in their roles. I was impressed with Frank Sinatra's acting ability.

Also top notch to actress Angela Lansbury as the vile mother to the character Raymond Shaw in this. The movie still holds up as a decent thriller even if a bit dated. I prefer the remake to this original but it is still worth watching at least once.
