Review of The Manchurian Candidate (1962) by Matty S — 02 Jan 2014
John Frankenheimer's almost Surrealist Cold War thriller has become dated, but still manages to captivate thanks to George Axelrod's cinematic twist of a screenplay. Angela Lansbury gives the performance of her career.
Lionel Lindon's cinematography is exceptional. In addition, there is something timeless in the paranoia explored. Skip the unnecessary Jonathan Demme remake and watch this truly unique film.
