Review of The Man Without a Face (1993) by Thomas P — 09 Sep 2007
An accompished and mature directorial debut from Mel Gibson, 'Face' tells the story of one boy's conflicts with his family and his tutor's inability to find acceptance. Nick Stahl is perfectly cast as a misfit in a strong female household.
He is surrounded by a strong support cast conveying a depth of emotions in this quality human drama. James Horner's mellow score offers a soothing response to events. Touching but never overbearing in a Paul Haggis way, Gibson acts and directs with verve and delivers a memorable feature.
