Review of The Man with Two Brains (1983) by Kyo 9 — 15 Dec 2008
A perfect balance of absurd humor and "brains." I think a lot of people interpret Steve Martin's straight-man act in this film as not fully committing to the ridiculousness of the script, but regardless of the validity of that statement, I find his ability to underplay certain aspects of the character overwhelmingly refreshing in an era when subtlety is unknown and over-the-top humor is never motivated.
I can't think of a single comic today (including modern Martin) that could pull this film off and have any quality intact.
