Review of The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) by Kevin R — 26 Oct 2013
You damage my girls, I damage your boys.
Jungle Village in China is about to see an epic battle. A fabled treasure of the emperor is about to land their and a group of mercenaries storm into the town in hopes of obtaining the riches. A local black smith, who makes weapons for the local clans, sees his town is about to be destroyed by the impending violence. Can he protect his family and friends?
"I always take a gun to a knife fight.".
Rza, director of the upcoming Genghis Khan, delivers The Man with the Iron Fists in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture was more intricate than I anticipated but the script was fairly mediocre and the action was too over the top. The acting was below average and the cast includes Rza, Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Dave Bautista, and Zhu Zhu.
"Every dog has its night.".
When the previews first aired I was very excited to see this picture. I never made it to the theatres to watch this so I recently DVR'd it off Cinemax. I did like the first half of the movie and how the characters were presented and initially developed. The story of the blacksmith was a little boring and the overall evolution of his character was disappointing. Overall, I recommend skipping this picture.
"When it comes to money, things get funny.".
Grade: C-.
