Review of The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) by Orlando O — 13 Mar 2013
I'll do my best not to spoil the movie but this movie was really bad. I watch a lot of 'bad' kung fu movies and enjoy them but this was cancerous. halfway through the move they decided to use a really irritating scene change, most of the kung fu was blurred away by rapid camera changes. I never felt like I got to watch a complete kungfu fight.
Only half of the music worked. Some of the time I felt like I was watching a clasic 80's kunfu flick then the hiphop took me out of place.
Maybe it was a homage to Bruce Lee's game of death but I was sad they ripped off the mirror room scene.
Lastly, the theme is schizophrenic. The kungfu had some classic wire-fu but felt out of place sometimes as some fights were resolved without magic but "fake kung fu". The bad guys were bland except for the magical dude who didn't belong because no one else was 'magical'. Additionally, magic man could have run the whole town, or just murdered for fun, done any thing he wanted really, because no one could hurt him. Why was he working for any one? Sir Magic has no one he cares about.
Endings are important to me and I felt cheated with the gigantic plot holes.
