Review of The Man with the Iron Fists (2012) by Jaime M — 15 Mar 2013
Well I am going to be merciful and give this one three stars because of the engaging martial arts and fights but overall I agree with the comments made by Peter Howell of the Toronto Star and Ty Burr of the Boston Globe (you can read them by looking up the film title on Flixster).
Once I saw that this film is associated with Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth I knew beyond the shadow of doubt it will be bloody, gory and senseless. You see Eli Roth's baby was the Hostel franchise and Tarantino is a strange filmmaker, not my taste really.
This story takes place In feudal China, and a blacksmith (RZA) who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers. Lucy Liu plays Madame Blossom, the owner of a brothel, that engages in an epic fight with the Silver Lion tribe that betrays her.
Russell Crowe plays Jack Knife, a calculating and smart man, always watching the scene and my fave- Rick Yune plays X-Blade (his blade outfit was incredible). Anyways the lives of all these men and one woman come together as they attempt to fight and annihilate the Lion tribe that wants complete dominion of China.
It was entertaining to watch in blu-ray but that is about the extent of it. Furthermore I think it targets the 17-30 male audience. Good Luck!
