Review of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) by Christopher H — 04 Nov 2012

Never been a huge moore fan. he tends to play the character too tongue in cheek. but despite a few naff moments, I felt he played this one pretty straight. with even a few hints of the dangerous qualities the best bonds have.

loved that this was a little unconventional in its set up. despite the usual grand plan, it's really just a cat and mouse contest between bond and scaramanga. even spending the usual pre credits sequence on the villain, not bond! christopher lee's fantastic as the worlds most dangerous (and pricey) hitman! a real bond villain.

some slow moments drag it down a bit. and I could have done without the fat american sidekick in the middle!!! knick knack also creeps me out! like a mini oddjob! but the final one on one against the man with the golden gun is just great! a real deathmatch! one of the better moore bonds and certainly no moonraker!
