Review of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) by Ronald N — 09 May 2013
A so-so Bond film where complies with the mediocre and entertain without displaying anything interesting. "The Man with the Golden Gun" surprisingly presents a very good concept, even though the story is the simplest and reduced of the franchise of novels, but it is trashed by its clumsy execution and foolish pace.
In result, the movie is uninspired, cynical tiring and tediously boring. Moore is quite charismatic, but it seems he decays in the stumbles that presents its plot, it also presents some unpleasant/hateful characters: Mary Goodnight as a really stupid Bond girl that is a big shame, Nick Nack as an assistant as only flaw is his voice, and again the Sheriff Pepper, please what the fuck you doing in there? Nobody loves you, even in "Live and Let Die", geez.
But these characters are saved by Scaramanga, a character so wicked and witty as well as clever; despite take some of the recognition of same Bond. In addition to the maximum possible shortage of gadgets that shows a Bond to show all the tactics and skills against this deadly and dangerous game of "hide and seek".
But I can only say "The Man with the Golden Gun" which is an entertaining film that doesn't plainly attribute the best of Bond, so much the case that deserves (or, need) being remade: a good story being spoiled.
It features one of the coolest car stunts ever done in a Bond film and the effect is perfect by the use of a slide whistle sound effect over it, in my opinion.
