Review of The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) by Eddie R — 24 Jan 2014
The Man with the Golden is Roger Moore's second film. The Man with the Golden Gun does have a nice pairing of villains in Scaramanga and Nick Nack, but it just does not have the same feeling as the rest of the films. The Man with Golden Gun really has the feeling of a side mission that could be made as knock off type film. The plot of the villain is related to the audience a bit too late and even still it does not have enough intensity as some of the other Bond films.
Bond Girl - 3/5.
Brit Ekland though fantastic in a bikini really just is not fun to watch due to her extreme lack of insight. It is even the more insulting given she is supposed to be working for MI6 and should have quite a bit more brains.
Gadgets - 3/5.
On Bond's side of things there really arent enough gadgets to go around. The golden gun carried by Scaramanga however is one of the more iconic weapons in the series.
Villains - 5/5.
Scaramanga played by Christopher Lee is realy excellent and he does his best to keep this film afloat despite a weak plot. Nick Nack is a nice addition, but somewhat unneeded and somewhat derails this film as somewhat of a comedic movie in the series.
Music 2/5.
Lulu's The Man with the Golden Gun is one of the weaker Bond songs and although the chorus is true to the film's title of course, it still does not save the song.
