Review of The Man Who Would Be King (1975) by Albert B — 21 Oct 2007
"The Son of God goes forth to war,.
A kingly crown to gain".
Long before I was given entrance into the 'aka club' and thus annointed as Peachey (Brother to a Prince and fellow to a beggar if he be found worthy), and even before I hummed the Minstrel Boy (although those aren't the words Daniel and Peachy sing to the hymn. Hint: see above) or sung its words, I had read Kipling's tale over and over again. I credit this book and film with my life long prediliction for adventure, trouble, and brashness...It is a great tale, told by a great story-teller, acted by two unquestionable greats (and Saeed Jaffrey as Billy Fish).
