Review of The Man Who Would Be King (1975) by Garry W — 03 Aug 2008
I just realized I hadn't rated my favorite movie of all time on Flixster, but now I am. It is my favorite because it is the best adventure story ever told, in my eyes. Real life friends Sean Connery and Michael Caine give some of their best performances as Peachy and Danny two morally questionable British ex soldiers who set out to be Kings of Kafiristan by bringing a warring tribe modern weaponry and military knowledge.
The story is long and I can see why some people wouldn't like it as much as me but if you go in with the right mind you will have the time of your life. They don't make movies like this anymore, it has a charm completely and uniquely its own.
Also the line "God's Holy Trousers" is shouted more than 4 times, by Michael Caine and Sean Connery.
