Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Tadd R — 18 Jun 2011
So good.....just so dang good. Why are the coen's so good at what they do? It looks like the classic films of the time of noir, but it's got so many new twists to it, and like all coen brothers films, there's that dark humor that I find Hilarious.
Before watching this, I never really considered Billy Bob Thornton to be much of an actor, but his performance is so like the character, that bland intelligence, it's probably the best performance of his career.
Mcdormand irritates me in some roles, but she is sort of distant, which is what she was supposed to be. James Gandolfini is good for the role, but he should only play a mob boss. And I'm a big Tony Shaloub fan and he's very good.
This Coen brothers film, is really just beautiful in many ways, it's got a great ending and the black and white is incredible.
