Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Hetch B — 14 Jul 2011
Did the Coen Brothers ever make a dud movie? If yes, I'm yet to come across it. The Man Who Wasn't There is another winner. Billy Bob Thornton plays the title role, that of a small town barber who has never strayed from the straight and the narrow, until he comes across a smooth talking entrepreneur looking for a partner in his new dry-cleaning business.
The typical Thornton drawl is seen here too, which he foes with much aplomb. As in other Coens' film noirs, this one also has an outstanding supporting cast of Frances McDormand, James Gandolfini and Tony Shalhoub.
