Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Brad G — 24 Aug 2012
Very well shot and with fine performances from a great cast but, sadly, quite boring. For me, this marks the start of a mini decline for the Coens - next came Intolerable Cruelty (which is actually more enjoyable than this but is far from the usual Coen standard) and then The Ladykillers (which I still haven't seen but it's a feckin remake, and a poorly received one at that) - before they arrested the slide in spectacular fashion with No Country For Old Men (and Burn After Reading, which was actually made before No Country but let's not split hairs).
