Review of The Man Who Wasn't There (2001) by Glen O — 11 Oct 2013
A great film noir from the Coen brothers with just the right mix of darkness and light. Beautifully shot in black and white it's an homage to the genre but also has an originality to it that saves it from being simply derivative.
Thornton and McDormand are great in the leads and an excellent supporting cast lends weight to this excellent drama about a barber with a get rich quick scheme that in good noir style leads to a spiraling descent into all kinds of trouble.
