Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Mike H — 12 Feb 2012
A very well done Western by John Ford. The cinematography and pacing of the film were excellent. It was strange seeing Jimmy Stewart in a Western but he did very well as the senator. John Wayne was well, John Wayne.
However, the real strength of the film was Lee Marvin being the bad guy Liberty Valance. He played it very well. Vera Miles was excellent as the tough girl stuck between Wayne and Stewart. Not Ford's best film but definitely in his top ten.
