Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Ohsnappage . — 05 Mar 2013
Probably the last person you'd expect to deconstruct the myths of the American West is John Ford, but that's what he does here. James Stewart and John Wayne represent two different views of the world, and for a large part of the film, they battle it out.
The cinematography in the film is amazing and the use of shadows is just beautiful and definitely adds to the realism. It looks and feels like that's what people of the time would really see. The story is alright, if a little slow at times.
Overall, a fine film.
