Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Bobby H — 11 Sep 2013
A deliberately small scale western from John Ford.Telling the tale of a love triangle, bullying and the changing of the western frontier. The cast is great,The Duke gives another great performance as a flawed man that matches his acting in The Searchers.
Brilliantly photographed in black and white,it's very atmospheric and powerful. The scene where The Duke kicks Lee Van Cleef's arse with one punch is worth watching it for alone.Uplifting and tragic,it's one of the best westerns ever made.
You better believe it pilgrim.
