Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) by Nathan F — 21 Dec 2008
Damn good fun, I never cared about the characters once in this picture but it rolls along at such a strong pace with such entertaining turns I could not deny the fun of it. Come on, a chair fight! It is magnificently absurd.
The exchanges in each scene were so quick that the film cuts to the chase almost too quickly. The resolution seemed to unbelievable (though based on real events), it almost seems like a wall was made to end the movie.
Fitting this in with Hitchcock films I can already see his his inclination for the adventure seen in Saboteur or Lady Vanishes developing, it is not deep but is effective achieving its goal of entertaining.
I was at first dissapointed to find that I had DVR'd the first version of this film, but I'm glad I got to see this.
