Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) by C F — 07 Apr 2009
Basic, but brilliant. Hitchcock is in nearly top form here, making fantastic use of close-ups and jump cuts. The film also features the skillful blending of suspense and comedy that Hitchcock always does so well.
The Albert Hall scene, for example, is extremely tense and very well put together. The funnier moments are well-executed too, like the awesome chair fight. Overall, it's a pretty damn entertaining movie once it gets going.
Hell, it's even got Peter Lorre in it. And all this in only about 75 minutes! Alfred Hitchcock: master of efficiency.
