Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) by Jeff B — 27 May 2011
Obviously the '56 version looks much better, but I think this version is better paced. Also, it has better performances in it. It can get a bit muddled with what's going on because of how fast it's going sometimes.
Also, for anyone on the fence, this film is worth seeing even if you've seen the '56 remake because it's way, way different from that version. Only minor plot points remain the same and almost none of the thriller tone Hitchcock would later become famous for exists here; instead it's much more in the noir-style.
