Review of The Man Who Knew Infinity (2016) by Abhishek D — 23 Aug 2016
The Man Who Knew Infinity - Master-Class!!! British Cinema has a grammar of Drama movies, which can never be matched or replicated. Its slow, plodding, yet steady leading us to a singular moment of sharp draught of fresh air overpowering every sense of your body.
Probably one of the best performances of Upen Patel with Jeremy Irons just being the finest wine ever....Gosh!!! With age this man is just becoming Benjamin Button...every nuance, every word still handled with impeccable subtlety and a youngness,as if he is acting for the first time.
This movie may not appeal to a mathematician but it studies the relationship between Hardy and his protege Ramanujan who surpassed his master. It is just beautiful cinema!!! Wonderfully meticulously crafted work!!! It may seem banal but its much much more.
..much much more. After a long time watched a movie which felt like a gourmet!! Rare movie which made me rue my fear for numbers...if only I had loved it..I could have tried to understand Ramanujan's amazing formulas.
....a lonely lovely movie, which you have to work to appreciate. Many may find it dull but the moment Hardy and Ramanujan walk on the grass of Trinity College together, you will realise the greatness of this movie.
