Jeremy Irons best performance I can remember. Oscarworthy..."The Man Who Knew Infinity" is a true life story of a mathematical genius Srinivasa "Ramanujan" (played by Dev Patel) who was born in India and transported 3,000 miles to Trinity College in England. Trinity is the legendary Britiannica house of learning where brilliant minds like Sir Isaac Newton studied and discovered simple things like theory of gravity.

In "The Man Who Knew Infinity" the story is just as important. Proving a Theory is as important as the Theory itself. Racial oppression was the norm back then, even though England in its true colours tried to take ownership of the Continent and ignore the magnificence and brilliance of their people and cultures. Jeremy Irons saw through those blinders and genuinely created a partnership that would last beyond both their years.

As in any great movie the Director and Screenplay writer (Mathew Brown), and the original published book author (Robert Kanigal) get most of the credit for bringing such a fantastic story to cinema.

Would only mathematic minded persons enjoy this movie...no! Will everyone like this movie...no! After reading some reviews on Redbox I agree with the person who said "If you like good movies you will like this one.

The supporting cast at Trinity and in Calcutta India kept the level on a high benchmark that did not falter. My favorite was Toby Jones who played Professor G.H. Harry's (Irons) sidekick and best "Aquantance" Littlewood. His insight, depth, and humour gave the movie the flavors that you can taste.

You could compare this adaptation to the Oscar Winning movie/performance by Benedict Cumberbatch in "Imitation Game." The biggest difference is the Mentor is the best performance and role. in "The Infinity Man." The genius in this movie is really the author of the book...and his partner for life Jeremy Irons.
