The news that the Criterion blu ray was being withdrawn from sale this month finally prompted me to watch this film which has been on my 'to see' list for quite some time. I'm glad it did as it's an intriguing, challenging and entertaining film with a great central performance from Bowie and some amazing visuals and montages.
It is really only when the film hits its last fourty minutes that it becomes more frustrating as the narrative becomes less focused and accordingly my concentration began to wander. Yet for its high points and its stunning visual imagination I am glad I saw it and am looking forward to giving it another viewing soon.
