Review of The Man Who Cried (2000) by Madeline M — 03 Jul 2008
Johnny Depp is once again casted a mysterious gypsy, and he plays the part wonderfully. Christina Ricci seemed a little too youthful for her role. The emotions that seem lacking from the dialogue is clearly evident in the surrounding music, silent whispers, and shifting suggestive glances between struggling artistic performers.
Put it all together, and you have a borderline mute girl hiding from her past and trying to make some sense of her future. It's truly beautiful and simplistic.
