Some things I like in movies: Southern culture, rural/small town life and coming of age stories. This has all those things. If you like movies like "Fried Green Tomatoes" or "My Girl", this might be right up your alley.
It's more kind of geared toward women though, the script is simple/predictable and a little ham at times, but it's a nice little movie featuring an already uber-talented Reese Witherspoon at the age of 14.
