Review of The Man in the Iron Mask (1998) by Lizz N — 25 Apr 2009
A somewhat silly but very fun adventure set in France during like...the 1700's or something. Basically some rogue musketeers decide to overthrow a cruel, selfish, and young king with the help of a mysterious man wearing an iron mask who the musketeers sneak out of jail.
I love Leo, but he does not fit the time period. He is much too casual & doesn't have a smidge of a French accent!! And he's supposed to be the KING of France...ha. John Malkovich has the same accent problem going on. Actually, so does Jeremy Irons but I will excuse him because his acting is great & he fits his role perfectly. Gabriel Byrne & Gerard Depardieu are excellently casted as well. Overall, this is an acceptable movie...as long as you don't take it too seriously.
