Did you know that the titular TV series involved Ian Fleming (the creator of James Bond)? Unfortunately, this film bears little resemblance to 007's spy coolness. It revolves around 2 agents: Napoleon Solo from the CIA (Henry Cavill adopting a somewhat stilted American delivery) and Illya Kuryakin from the KGB (Armie Hammer offering nothing special).

They're brought together by their countries to save the world from catastrophe (nothing new here). The overabundance of dialogue could have been offset by snappy wordplay, but it's flat. To make matters worse, director Guy Ritchie's action sequences are uninspired.

The only fun aspect is the groovy '60s fashions, but that's not enough to make this retro adventure worth wearing…or watching.
