Overall this was a pretty good movie, but for a man who has seen countless revenge movies, and whose favorite movie is a movie about revenge, this could've been much better. And considering that these types of movies are made ALL the time in South Korea, to me, this feels a little bit formulaic.
It really does nothing that would separate it from other movies in the genre. Then again, I'm sure they weren't out to reinvent the wheel with this movie. I just found it hard to get into the movie until at least more than halfway through the movie and then it got pretty good, the action was bloody and well choreographed.
The acting was acceptable, the cinematography was good, the story really wasn't much. Guy goes save his neighbor's kid from drug dealers. Simple and straightforward. I think the movie does take itself a little bit too seriously at times, there were some attempts at humor but the story presents itself in such a "dark" manner that it feels slightly out of place.
But, as I said, the movie is still pretty good overall thanks to its action but if you've seen billions of revenge movies then there's really no reason to watch this. I'd recommend watching the Chaser instead.
