Review of The Man from Nowhere (2010) by Movie K — 07 Apr 2011

Old formula story but nevertheless still a good action movie from S.Korea. Movie start off with a group of DEA agents led by Kim Tae-hoon preparing to nab the drug deliverer after 2 months of stake out.

A dance hostess (Kim Hyo-seo) knock out the courier and took the drug. Agents come up with nothing. Won Bin is a lone ranger boss of a small pawn shop. A girl Kim Sae-ron is rather close to him. She's the daughter of the hostess.

Drug lord Song Young-chang isn't happy the drug is lost and want the newcomer Kim Hee-won to get it back. The hostess threatens the mastermind guy she want a bigger cut. She pawns the bag to Won Bin.

Kim Hee-won track down her, ask his brother Kim Seong-oh to take her and Kim Sae-ron. 2 thugs try to get the bag from Won Bin but they mess with the wrong guy. Kim Seong-oh uses the gals as hostage. Won Bin hand over the bag and is force to make a delivery for them.

It is to the drug lord. The bad brothers set him up and call the cops. Won Bin crash the car to stop the drug lord and to his horror, the car boot is the cut and sewn corpse of the hostess. The organs all taken, eyes rip out while alive.

The agents took him back and can't link Won Bin up to the drug lord, with his file record un-recorded and locked. They manage to get data of Won Bin, who is ex special force soldier, expert in many things mostly dirty secretive ops.

Won Bin escape from the station. The bad brothers kidnap the mastermind guy, thinking he is link with Won Bin, but kill him eventually. Meanwhile, Kim Sae-ron is lock in a room with many other kids. Won Bin track down the brothers and organ trafficker to a bar.

He kills the latter and face off with the personal killer of Kim Hee-won. Kim Seong-oh escape. Won Bin injured. An old time friend save him. He cut his hair and got a gun. The agent call the number and tell him the girl is still alive and want to know what is his connection.

He only tell the agent what he know. The agent are told of Won Bin past. He was shot and his pregnant wife is kill in a car crash. Done by enemy of his last hit mission. Won Bin follow a boy who help to deliver drug and withdraw money.

Track down the van to a secret factory, where corpses are kept and drugs are package. Kim Seong-oh is beaten up and made to see his own death. Won Bin set up gas explosive. Kim Hee-won vows to Won Bin if he touch his brother, he will kill the girl.

Won Bin go after him next. He ask the doctor to kill the girl. During this part, it should be but not shown that the killer has a soft spot for her. She plaster on his wounds after fighting with Won Bin at the club.

So he save her from the doctor. Won Bin kills all the henchmen. The killer fight him hand and knife combat which he lose and get kills terribly. Kim Hee-won tries to escape but Won Bin shot the car tyre.

He shoot continuously one spot of the car bulletproof windscreen and kills him. Won Bin reload and want to suicide but at this moment, the girl appear unharm. The agents came and Won Bin is caught. He make a request to get stuffs for the girl and tell her she is on her own.

He ask for a hug. Quite a unexplain and bad ending.
