Review of The Man from Earth (2007) by The D — 11 Apr 2013
The Man from Earth is a towering achievement of independent film-making and one of the most remarkable and thoughtful science-fiction films I have ever seen. This movie kept me fully engrossed throughout and held my interest ferociously. If you love films with a philosophical agenda, then this film will do more than enough to satisfy you. This film definatly requires multiple viewings and I cannot recommend this film enough. I am not going to give away details of the plot or the events because it is better if you go into this movie knowing nothing at all. One of the fascinating things about this movie was that the screenwriter, Jerome Bixby, actually atarted writing the screenplay in the early 1960's. He wrote it for about 35 years until it was finished right before he died in 1998. This film is proof that you can create cinematic gems with microscopic budgets. The budget for this movie was around $0.2 million and did they ever make the most of it.
The Man from Earth is an undisputed masterpiece and one of the greatest science fiction films of our time.
