Review of The Man from Earth (2007) by Pavel R — 19 Oct 2009
Despite very minimalistic conception, unknown (unfortunately also some not so good) actors, but brilliant scenario make this movie very extraordinary. Some people will probably reject it very soon after start of watching, not only because the idea of the whole plot that is based on intellectual debate over the many philosophical, historical and religious themes, also it has (although it's made like a conversational sci-fi) some kind of duality in perception of - what we hear and can believe and think about based on our own knowledge, and how we perceive knowledge nowadays in a world of invention and breaking old rules, exploring everything around us.
Ultimately, it is written to be possibly true and that's most important and most attractive on it, in this is is very similar to K-Pax with spacey and Bridges. Whole movie can give you plenty of ideas to think about in many days, plenty space to dream about.
and that important, I also loved the religious part, it should be taught. Problem is with the end, but that's maybe just because I did not want that end to be like this.
