Review of The Man from Earth (2007) by Missa S — 09 Sep 2009
I like movies that exercise your grey matter. So this was right up my alley. Makes you think, during and after.
Also, there have been a handful of other movies over the years that had limited sets that I liked. Breakfast Club, for instance, took place, for the most part, on one set. 12 Angry Men, also, in one room.
The only reason this did not get five stars from me was simply out of lack of production value. The production left much to be desired. As usual, the bigwigs in hollywood missed the mark on this one. Should have budgeted a bit more if possible. I mean, I know this didn't do well at all in the theatres, but a classic story like this deserved more.
A brilliant plot, about a guy who's thousands of years old. He doesn't know why he's lived so long. But he HAS learned that he can't stay in one place very long without arousing suspicion. It's got a great twist at the end too! The twist somewhat tells you WHY he's living in the town he's in, and working at the place he works. The story is top notch, and I recommend this one wholeheartedly to anyone.
