Review of The Man from Earth (2007) by Päivi L — 12 Feb 2011
Great idea for a movie. A professor is going away after 10 years of service in a college and gets thrown a surprise farewell party at his house by colleagues who have come to care for him. All the colleagues are learned and experts in their field -- a biologist, an anthropologist, a psychiatrist.
At the party, the professor reveals that he is an immortal who has roamed the earth for 14,000 years and that he does not age beyond his 35 years and therefore has to move when this becomes evident. The whole movie is based on their reactions to this revelation -- from disbelief to belief, and anger and wonder.
What spoiled the movie for me was the ending. But it is still worth a watch.
