Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by Simon D — 13 Dec 2013
It's a good story and, once again, Bogart takes on a different type of role and pulls it off impecably. My main gripe about this is that there really isn't much going on outside of the three or four rooms in the movie.
Everything is explained to us (at a very fast pace) but I can't help think that it would have been a better film had we seen some of what was going on outside for ourselves, perhaps the story wouldn't work then, I dunno.
I reckon this would be better suited to the stage.
