Review of The Maltese Falcon (1941) by D M — 04 Nov 2015
#noirvember.
Archer & Spade PI quickly becomes Sam Spade PI after the duo take a case presented by a dame in distress. Sam wants to know why; he had his dirty dealings with his former partner's wife, and is even questioned by the local PD. He uses his intuition and know-how to get more information from the woman who hired them. He learns the case she initially presented is far bigger and involves a hundreds-year-old-treasure. Spade wants to make his own money, dealing with a homosexual couple of treasure-hunters while trying to stay alive. This is the epitome of what you envision for an old-school detective film.
