Review of The Majestic (2001) by Scott C — 03 Aug 2010
What a wonderful film. It took me quite a long time to watch this film. I've seen practically every single Jim Carrey movie and I knew before hand that he can actually play a serious role, not just always being a funny guy. He was downright great in this film. He is very passionate and plays the role of a amnesiac writer very well.
The story was very heart warming. There was a very nice message about standing up for what's right and having the courage to stand up got what you believe in. The characters all have been through something horrible and they all find hope in the man they believe to be a lost son of their town. There's very touching moments that seem very realistic.
The only thing that bogs this movie down is that it is a little bit on the long side. Near the end it's very well established what's going on, but it sort of drags on. Other than that the character development and plot pacing were on point.
If you've never seen this movie and are in the least bit interested definitely give it a shot!
