Review of The Majestic (2001) by Bryan W — 04 Apr 2011
The wrong actor can stifle a film tremendously, and this point, Carrey was too famous for doing comedy to push into the world of drama. He made the right move beforehand by bridging the gap between the two genres with the terrific 'Truman Show', but here he makes the mistake of going too serious.
He acquits himself admirably in the title role, but the film is too long and too boring for such a gigantic star. Film goers uncomfortably twitching as they wait for Carrey to make a scene funny make this point for me.
