Review of The Majestic (2001) by Ian C — 09 Oct 2011
Although it was a box office dissappointment critics liked it. Ebert and Roeper gave it two thumbs up. The problem is a majority of the American public don't want to accept Jim Carrey as a serious actor.
I like this movie partially due to it's historical context. It takes place during the communist red scare of the 1950s. The scene where Peter testifies before the Senate commitee on un-american activities is also very powerful.
It's also a nice story. He breathes life back into a town hit hard by World War II.
