Review of The Majestic (2001) by Linda M — 19 Aug 2012
I can't understand why this film has been so often criticized. "The Majestic" is a wonderful tribute to Americana and Cinema. The film creates an amazing sense of nastalgia that any audiance, including those of us born much more recent, can appreciate. Costume and Set also does a perfect job for the time period. Furthermore Carry's character is moving and believable and arguably one of his best performances, not to mention stellar performances by the entire cast. If you haven't seen it I strongly urge you to please do so, and if you have feel free to watch it again.
This qoute not only conveys the emotion presented in this film but also my own personal convictions about Cinema.
"I mean, this television thing. Why would you want to stay at home and watch a little box? Because it's convenient? Because you don't have to get dressed up, because you could just sit there? I mean, how can you call that entertainment, alone in your living room? Where's the other people? Where's the audience? Where's the magic? I'll tell you, in a place like this, the magic is all around you. The trick is to see it.".
