Review of The Magnificent Seven (2016) by Jason B — 06 Oct 2016
Magnificent 7 feels like you have to wait a lot for the aciton, but the waiting is well paid as there's plenty of pistol action for the western fan. The details to be picked out have more to do with it being a reboot and the obvious comparisons to classic westerns.
Not that any of them are bad actors, but how far can we stretch the politically correctness of casting? You have every race, even your discount Jennifer Lawrence to portray a 'strong, independent woman who don't need no man'.
If the only point of rebooting movies is to make them more politically correct, well, that's just one more arguement for people who think Hollywood needs fresh ideas instead of so much recycled ideas.
