Review of The Magnificent Seven (2016) by Ben T — 26 Nov 2016
"The Magnificent Seven" is an extremely fun western that feels like a good ole' spaghetti thriller while having some great action sequences, a great cast, and interesting direction. I appreciate Antoine Fuqua because he is a really versatile director.
He has made films for many different genres and has succeeded with most of them. He gives his own spin to the western action flick and used many tropes and things you would see in a film like this is a smart way.
The cast knocks it out of the park, and they form a great team while having amazing chemistry with each other. The action was pretty amazing, and the final battle was a jaw-dropping experience to witness.
I think "Hell or High Water" is the more serious and gritty western this year, but I also think "The Magnificent Seven" is the fun, popcorn action western flick of the year. Both of these movies make me think that the western genre may be on the verge of a comeback, and you should see this movie if you want a fun western/action flick to watch.
