Good dialogue writing saved the otherwise simple movie. The action was good and interesting for a western. It is a good watch for western fans but really not much else. It doesn't add more to the cinema, to the art form or even to its viewers.

Again, having a specifically motley crew of all races present at the time in America as part of the magnificent seven is quite in your face. Interestingly, the movie acknowledged it which was one cool directorial aspect of the film - to be able to openly laugh at the commercialisation of your own movie.
