Review of The Magnificent Seven (2016) by William S — 28 Jan 2017
As I read the reviews for this movie, I see that everyone had perfect expectations. To that, I say there has never been a better remake. I have been a fan of the "Magnificent 7" since childhood, and this exceeded my expectations.
The only complaint I might add: I wish the movie had been longer. The villain was ruthless and rich, but not a gunslinger, which may have upset some critics. However, this movie provided ample entertainment and a resolution that I doubt anyone could have predicted.
It broke away from the common gunslinger flicks of the past and added a 21st century flavor. Some elements are predictable, but these elements add to the entertainment value. If people would watch a damn movie and stop worrying over the "superlative" title, they would finish the story satisfied.
I have yet to see a perfect movie, so to complain that this movie didn't meet such expectations, is unjust and ridiculous. I am going to buy this movie because it deserves some positive feedback, and to be frank, I want to see more movies of this quality rather than the trash that has been released over the last decade.
