Review of The Magnificent Seven (2016) by Mark A — 11 Oct 2017
I'm not a harsh critic. But here's my harsh critique...
The director is justifiably respected for his past work. The cast is talented and invested in the endeavor. BUT, this is a bad movie. Don't watch it. Trust me. It suuuucks. Not a western. Not cool. Just dumb.
First half is rushed. Second half is drawn out. The story and the point have fallen victim to an agenda I don't see value in. That agenda? To make a bullshitty faux western with zero personality. Dude, I could dig in and chop it up, but I'll save you the lengthy read: bail on this one.
Want a cool new Hollywood western? NP. Check out In A Valley of Violence. Knock yourself out. At least it has a real score.
